Australian Pears: NZ export campaign
Tapping into a key export window to lift sales
Ongoing project
Apple and pear trade development and market access program (AP23003)
Delivery Partner: Apple and Pear Australia Limited (APAL)
This investment supports the long-term growth of Australia’s apple and pear industries through increased export opportunities. The program helps growers and exporters respond to growing domestic supply pressures by improving access to overseas markets, building export capability, and supporting commercial decision-making.
The program is guided by Hort Innovation export strategies, the APAL trade strategy, and annual export plans for apples and pears. Commodity-specific grower and exporter committees will identify and prioritise activities each year, ensuring the work remains focused on industry needs. Key areas of activity include technical market access, export capability development, export competitiveness, trade literacy, and industry leadership.
The project will develop and maintain practical resources and services for industry, including export plans, the Export Hub, trade data dashboards, an export help desk, and export enquiry services. It will also prepare and distribute export-readiness materials and training, support industry participation in market access launches, provide virtual trade updates, and share export information through industry communications.
By strengthening export knowledge, maintaining market access, and helping growers participate in export supply chains, the project aims to improve the industry's ability to manage supply and demand, access premium markets, and support sustainable returns for Australian apple and pear growers.
This project is a strategic levy investment in the Hort Innovation Apple and Pear Fund
