What was it all about?

This project supported the avocado industry's long-term goal of achieving technical market access for Australian avocados to China through a study tour that gathered critical information and developed relationships with key stakeholders.

The levy-funded Avocado Export Strategy 2022-2026 (AV21000) is a strategic roadmap that outlines the actions and outcomes needed to support the Australian avocado industry. The Strategy identifies China as a vital market for the industry's future growth.

The main goals of the study tour included:

• Collecting detailed market intelligence to solidify the business case for avocado export to China.
• Developing cooperative research and development partnerships with the China Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and the Guangxi South Subtropical Agricultural Science Research Institute.
• Acquiring insights into the Chinese avocado market and supply chain to aid future commercial endeavours.
