This project supports stronger retail performance for Australian avocados by improving how avocados are handled, presented and sold in store. It focuses on equipping retail staff with the knowledge and practical skills needed to deliver a better consumer experience and reduce barriers to purchase.
The program delivers education and training for retail teams on best practice handling, ripeness management and merchandising for both Hass and Shepard avocados. Activities are designed to improve staff confidence, consistency and decision making at store level, helping ensure avocados reach consumers in optimal condition.
Key project outputs include training resources, in store education tools and supporting materials that reinforce correct handling and merchandising behaviours. These materials are designed for practical use in retail environments and to be easily shared across retail networks.
By improving retail quality and staff capability, the project aims to reduce quality related complaints, improve shopper satisfaction and drive incremental avocado sales. The outcomes support stronger demand for Australian avocados and improved value flow back through the supply chain to growers.
