What was it all about?

This project, which ran from 2014 to 2016, aimed to keep Australian banana growers and other industry stakeholders informed about key industry issues and the latest R&D updates in a timely way. Updates assist growers in making production decisions, and build industry capacity, productivity and profitability.

The project included editions of Australian Bananas magazine and, until August 2015, the hard-copy Australian Banana News newsletter, plus fortnightly industry e-bulletins. SMS notifications (and some phone calls) were made to growers for urgent industry updates and an average of two media releases went out each month.

The team established a Facebook page to keep growers up to date on the Panama TR4 outbreak, the industry website was updated and videos were made for the Australian Banana Growers’ Council.
