Cherries health credentials research (CY24008)
Delivery Partner: Bite Communications
This project is building the evidence base to support health and nutrition claims for Australian cherries, strengthening both domestic and export marketing activities. It focuses on identifying and substantiating credible health benefits that can be confidently communicated to consumers and health professionals.
The project will undertake a comprehensive review of existing scientific literature to assess the nutritional profile and health properties of cherries. Findings are analysed and translated into clear, evidence based messages that align with regulatory and best practice requirements for nutrition and health communication.
Key outputs include a Cherry Health Report, an updated nutrition guide, a messaging matrix of approved health claims, and professionally designed resources suitable for marketing and education. Tailored fact sheets will also be developed for health professionals, alongside a dedicated online hub to house the project outputs and support ongoing access by industry stakeholders.
By providing robust, science backed health credentials, the project supports consistent and credible messaging across the supply chain. This helps build consumer confidence, supports premium positioning, and strengthens demand for Australian cherries in both local and international markets.
