DIY laneway greening – simplifying vertical greening at a community level (GC17002)

This Hort Frontiers Green Cities Fund investment supported the uptake of ‘vertical greening’ within local communities. The project team developed two resources about planning, designing and managing green walls within community spaces. They include essential information such as the types of plants that work best, the green wall systems best suited to everyday scenarios, how to work within a DIY budget, the benefits of green walls, addressing potential barriers, and more.
The Grow Up Guide introduces DIY laneway greening and guides planning, designing and managing a green wall within community space.
The itstimetogrowup.com.au website houses practical information about the benefits of urban greening and how to establish a green wall in a community area.
This project was a collaboration between academia, government and community know-how to produce a complete, practical and inclusive means of enabling the expansion of urban greening.
