What is it all about?

This partnership with the Solving Plastic Waste CRC supports horticulture’s involvement in a national initiative developing solutions to reduce plastic waste and advancing a circular economy. 

Through research into agricultural plastics, recycling opportunities and microplastic management, the project will help identify practical approaches to reduce disposal costs, improve sustainability and support more resilient horticultural production systems. 

The Solving Plastic Waste CRC is working at the broader level to design out plastic waste, support Australia’s plastics value chain to transition to a circular and climate-neutral economy, and grow advanced manufacturing capability. For horticulture, this work can help identify practical solutions for agricultural plastics, recycling and microplastic management, reducing the burden of disposal and cost to the grower.
