What is it all about?

This project will develop a five-year export strategy to help guide future export growth and provide industry with an evidence-based roadmap for investment and market development.  

The project will identify priority, frontier and emerging export markets for Australian vegetables and onions. It will examine demand in these markets, including consumer preferences and buyer requirements, and assess the factors that influence export opportunities. Trade data, market intelligence and export market feedback will be used to develop practical guidance on market selection, positioning and export pathways.  

Consultation with growers, exporters, buyers, government agencies and other stakeholders will help test and validate the findings. This input will be assessed alongside independent market evidence to ensure recommendations are practical, evidence-based and informed by market requirements.  

Key outputs include a market prioritisation assessment, consultation findings, a five-year export strategy and an implementation roadmap. Together, these outputs will help industry prioritise export markets, identify future trade and research investment opportunities, and support decision-making for export development over the next five years.
