What is it all about?

Established and exotic pests can reduce productivity, increase management costs and disrupt the movement of turf products. This project will help turf growers better manage these risks by providing clear guidance on preventing, identifying and responding to pest threats, including Red Imported Fire Ant.  

A tailored biosecurity framework and practical manual will be developed for the Australian turf industry. These resources will be embedded within the Turf360 best management practice platform and made available as standalone tools, helping provide a nationally consistent approach to biosecurity across the turf industry.  

Growers, industry organisations, government agencies and biosecurity experts will contribute to the project through consultation and review panels, helping ensure the resources are relevant, practical and aligned with industry needs.  

Outcomes will include a turf industry biosecurity framework, a practical biosecurity manual, a biosecurity risk register, record-keeping templates, and fact sheets and training resources. Together, these tools will help growers strengthen on-farm biosecurity practices and improve preparedness for established and exotic pest threats.
