Mushroom crisis management review
Project Code: MU16001
Status: Completed project
This project was tasked with identifying potential risks and threats to the Australian mushroom industry, updating the mushroom industry’s crisis management plan, and providing effective training to industry personnel involved in crisis management. Its work is one component in ensuring a resilient mushroom industry, with the ability to intelligently prepare for, respond to and recover from any risks that may arise.
Working with key industry representatives, it has improved the industry’s understanding of crisis management principles and procedures, increased awareness of crisis management arrangements for the industry, and provided an intuitive approach for identifying, assessing and responding to potential crises using effective communication strategies.

Mushroom Strategic Investment Plan 2017-2021
The Mushroom Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) will help guide Hort Innovation’s oversight and management of investment programs for the mushroom industry over the next five years. It lays the foundation for decision-making in levy investments and represents the balanced interests of the industry. The very important function of the SIP is to ensure levy investment decisions align with industry priorities.
The SIP was developed through a process of consultation, drafting, validation, stakeholder feedback as well as final approval by Hort Innovation’s Board. The process involved consultation meetings (detailed below) and online validation, giving mushroom growers opportunity to provide input and feedback.
If you have any questions about the development process of the SIP, please contact Hort Innovation's mushroom Relationship Manager, John Vatikiotis, by phone on 0429 022 637 or John.Vatikiotis@horticulture.com.au
