Horticulture Nuffield Scholarships (BA14002)
What was it all about?
This investment was established to support Nuffield Scholars in the banana industry. Nuffield Scholarships are a chance for Australians in agriculture to grow their practical knowledge and a broad variety of skills, while heading overseas to study a topic related to their industry.
In 2016, the project’s levy-funded scholarship was awarded to Queensland organic banana grower Matthew Abbott. As part of his Nuffield journey, Matthew set out to explore how his business – and the wider industry – could get a greater return for the product. He specifically looked at increasing value through marketing and branding, and also touched on markets for ‘out of spec’ bananas, and export markets.
Full details can be found in the final research report at the top of this page.
