Banana industry communications program (BA18001)
What was it all about?
From 2018 to 2022, this project facilitated and promoted the adoption of new and existing R&D and communicating other industry developments to Australian banana growers through a variety of communication channels.
The key aim of the project was to ensure the Australian banana industry remained sustainable, supported by profitable production and innovation in pest resistance, technology, adoption of best management practices.
The project facilitated and promoted the adoption of new and existing R&D; and communicated other industry development activities to Australian banana growers, through a variety of mediums.
A large volume of communication material was created during the project to facilitate the above. Some of the material was published online and can be accessed here:
- Publication of the triannual Australian Bananas Magazine
- Grower e-bulletins
- Regular ABGC website updates, including a dedicated COVID-19 page and worker shortages page
- Several videos for social media, the most popular being a 20 second video of two Lakeland banana farmers explaining how to cut and hump a bunch of bananas: watch here
- A video of a field walk at the South Johnstone Research Facility.
ACT NOW
Levy-funded industry communications are sent to all known Australian banana growers. If you’re a commercial banana grower and do not currently receive industry e-bulletins, sign up at the bottom of the Australian Banana Growers’ Council homepage.
This project was a strategic levy investment in the Hort Innovation Banana Fund
