Ongoing project
Citrus market development and quality program (CT22002)
Key research provider: Citrus Australia
What is it all about?
This investment ensures the Australian citrus industry remains globally competitive, well-informed, profitable, and able to reliably and sustainably supply quality fruit that achieves commercial and regulatory market requirements in domestic and international markets.
The program builds upon the successes of the previous levy-funded project, Citrus market development, market access and quality (CT18002), and incorporates new activities that specifically focus on fruit for processing and the sustainability of the citrus industry.
The program has four areas of focus:
- Protect the production base by ensuring that crop protection products remain accessible to the industry while fulfilling regulatory requirements in domestic and export markets.
- Optimise markets and generate demand by maintaining and improving domestic and international market access conditions and improving the industry’s value proposition by promoting quality improvements along the entire value chain.
- Advance the adoption of R&D findings by engaging the sector through effective communication and capacity-building activities, particularly where it relates to trade.
- Provide value-chain participants with high-quality data and information to inform business decisions, especially in relation to marketing and investment decisions.
