Podcast #3 from Growing Matters – Series 2
Horticultural growers who produce crops that are high in fat have long faced challenges with marketing their produce and building a strong consumer base. With ever-evolving consumer preferences, flash diets and food fads, even fresh horticultural produce that contains good fats that support health and wellbeing are being boycotted from the grocery list. This engaging episode brings together the Hort Innovation resident nutritionist Jemma O’Hanlon and almond grower Brendan Sidhu to talk about the resurgence of healthy fats into diets and how growers can take advantage of this trend to promote their produce. The pair also encourage growers to rely on the science to inform their marketing activities. Spoiler alert: The science never lies.
