Key research provider: The University of Queensland
What's it all about?
This investment is developing and evaluating new passionfruit varieties suitable to Australian growing regions to ensure the sustainability of the industry.
Through this program, six advanced selections from the previous investment National passionfruit breeding and evaluation program (PF19000) will be evaluated and at least two of these varieties will be released for commercial plantation.
The breeding team will generate and evaluate 3500 new progenies, from which 60 superior progenies will be further evaluated to develop a pipeline for future release.
