Demographic research for the vegetable industry – phase 2 (VG15019)
What was it all about?
From 2016 into 2017, this project provided Nielsen Homescan data to the vegetable industry. Its regular and ad-hoc reports looked at shopping habits and consumption in the Australian vegetable industry, using data drawn from a panel of 10,000 members, representative of Australia’s demographics.
The project’s reports came in a range of formats including deep dives, regular analysis reports and opportunity calculators. There was information provided on specific vegetable commodities, including Asian vegetables, beans, broccoli, cabbage, capsicum, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumber, fresh salad, lettuce, pumpkin, sweet corn, sweetpotato and zucchini.
These historical reports can be accessed by vegetable levy payers by contacting AUSVEG here.
Following this project, the Harvest to Home initiative was established under the investment Vegetable cluster consumer insights program (MT17017) to continue providing a range of market data to the vegetable industry, through an easy to use online dashboard.
This project was a strategic levy investment in the Hort Innovation Vegetable Fund
