Australian Citrus Congress (CT23007)

Key research provider: Citrus Australia

What is it all about?

The Australian Citrus Congress serves as a platform to showcase cutting-edge domestic and international research, development, extension, and marketing (RDE&M) investments, all designed to enhance the future of the citrus industry.

Challenge

To ensure long-term sustainability and prosperity, the Australian citrus industry must remain at the forefront of innovation. This requires keeping all stakeholders informed and up to date on developments in markets and the latest available RDE&M initiatives. A well-informed industry is essential to staying competitive and addressing emerging challenges.

Response

The Australian Citrus Congress will take place annually from 2025 to 2029, with each year’s event being hosted in different key citrus-growing regions. The congress will offer a comprehensive program including expert presentations, workshops, Q&A panels, and in-field demonstrations. These activities will help participating growers understand how citrus levy RDE&M investments can be practically applied to improve their businesses and the wider industry.

Benefit

By attending the Congress, industry members will gain access to the latest research findings, helping them enhance productivity, competitiveness, and adaptability. Participants will also gain insights into international best-practices and learn about emerging risks, including biosecurity threats, market access challenges, and future outlooks.

The Congress will provide valuable networking opportunities, enabling growers to connect with researchers, suppliers and customers, and to share knowledge and experiences within the community.
